Small Businesses Affected By Lockdown In Queensland Are Eligible For New Support Grants

The Queensland Government has announced support grants to help businesses that were affected by lockdowns across the state in August, 2021.

The grant is open to eligible small and medium businesses,  large tourism and hospitality businesses as well as not-for-profit organisations that were affected by the August 2021 COVID-19 lockdowns.

Applications for the same will open at 12pm (midday), 16th August 2021, and the application period will last three months.

A payment of $5,000 (excluding GST) will be provided to eligible businesses and organisations and may be used towards managing business expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

Small and medium businesses, and not-for-profit organisations:

To be eligible, you must: 

  • Employ staff, who are on your payroll and does not include any business owners.
  • Have a headquarters based in Queensland.
  • Have a turnover of over $75,000 annually.
  • Have a payroll in Queensland of not more than $10 million annually.
  • Show or declare reduced turnover of 30% or more for a one-week period which includes at least one full day of the South East Queensland lockdown which began on 31st July 2021, the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown which began on 8th August 2021, or any other Queensland lockdown in August 2021.

 

Large tourism and hospitality businesses and not-for-profit organisations:

To be eligible, you must:

  • Employ staff, who are on your payroll and does not include any business owners.
  • Have a headquarters based in Queensland.
  • Operate in the tourism and hospitality sector (check ANZSIC codes for eligibility)
  • Have a turnover of over $75,000 annually.
  • Have a payroll in Queensland of not more than $10 million annually.
  • Show or declare reduced turnover of 30% or more for a one-week period which includes at least one full day of the South East Queensland lockdown which began on 31st July 2021, the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown which began on 8th August 2021, or any other Queensland lockdown in August 2021.

To apply for this support grant, you’re required to apply online with all supporting evidence through the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) portal.
